Achievements

  • We, at FPH, have helped 5000 trainees to gain self-reliance by imparting vocational training to them. It has helped to place numerous trainees in reputed Corporations and Institutions thus allowing them to lead productive lines.
  • Also provided various disabled individuals with about 10,000 aids and appliances like tricycles, wheelchairs, crutches, artificial limbs, telephone booths etc.
  • Helped 1200 handicapped persons to get public telephone booths in Mumbai city and out of Mumbai as per the BMC rules under the Self Employment Scheme of FPH since 1986 onwards.
  • Extended its support to over 1000 disabled individuals by means of financial support for education.
  • First institution of its kind in South East Asia to launch a Rehabilitation Programme for the orthopedically disabled.
  • First driving license secured in the country for a double-hand amputee.
  • First one-handed Steno-Typist employed who passed the higher typewriting examination in First Class and received President’s award for outstanding employee in the country.
  • Organiser of the First National Seminar on “ACCESS” in March 1979 to create awareness about the need for a barrier-free environment, among Architects, Engineers, Builders, Government and Municipal authorities as well as the general public.
  • Introduced an exclusive transport service for the handicapped in Mumbai city.

  • The Indian Merchants Chamber Bombay for outstanding work in the field of vocational training and rehabilitation of the Handicapped – 1980.
  • Smt. Nandini P. Divatia Rural Award 2019.
